Apple Tree #atozchallenge 2025 memory

#AtoZChallenge 2025 badge A

Apple tree costume

This tree is my brother. 🍎🌳
For Halloween one year, he trick-or-treated as an apple tree. My mom made the costume. Those are red apples on his cheeks.

He was freaking adorable. People loved the costume.

My brother absolutely hates that I have all these cute pictures of him as a child. πŸ˜‚
Revenge of the older sister!! Ha ha ha.
I love him.

#atozchallenge QUICK COMMERCIAL

#AtoZChallenge 2022 Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter

Halloween costumes should be something someone could be by choice, or something humans are not known to be forced to be due to repression or unfortunate circumstances.

Someone can choose to be a doctor. πŸ‘©πŸ½‍⚕️πŸ‘¨πŸ½‍⚕️ ✅
Someone cannot choose to be born Japanese. 🎎 ❌
Someone can wear a robot costume. πŸ€– ✅
Someone becomes homeless due to repression or unfortunate circumstances. 🏠⛔😩  ❌
Inanimate objects are generally okay, and so are most animals. πŸ¦πŸŒ»πŸ• ✅
Costumes about acts of real violence may be frowned upon. πŸ’£ ❌
Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls are traditional. πŸ‘»πŸ‘ΊπŸ‘Ώ ✅
Do not mock marginalized people. πŸ‘¬πŸ‘ ❌
Trending couples costume= Dinosaur and fuel pump. πŸ¦–⛽  ✅
Sexual harassment, or objectifying people, is discouraged. πŸ‘―πŸ† ❌
A superhero is usually okay. 🦸  ✅
Costumes related to religion or addiction may also be considered in poor taste. ✝πŸ”―☪  🚬🍺  ❌

The ancient Celtic festival of Samhain included lighting bonfires and wearing costumes so as not to be recognized by spirits.
Other people tried to scare demonic spirits by wearing scary costumes.
There was also a time when people dressed as Saints and went door to door to get food for the poor. All Saints Day and All Souls' Day tend to combine with Halloween, as the dates coincide.

Halloween costume traditions have evolved over millenniums. What was acceptable once might not be acceptable now. A holiday that combines many cultures and traditions should unite us, not rip us apart. A little planning and a quick online search can prevent unintentional offending. Don't get booted from a Halloween costume party!
