Dec IWSG and Happy Holidays plus Grey's Anatomy, Ally McBeal, #BathroomGate

Seperate bathrooms for MAGA folks obsessed with genitals of others
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CvBag2SPD/ #BathroomGate The United States Congress doesn't want all elected members to be allowed to use the bathrooms in Government buildings. Gonna need to pause doing your job of running the country to poop at the deli down the street, I guess. We'll be back to toilet segregation in no time.

"This is your priority, that you want to bully a member of Congress, as opposed to welcoming her to join this body so all of us can work together to get things done and deliver real results for the American people?" Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries said. - BBC news

Again, to clear this up, the MAGA Republicans are saying if a person is born with a ๐ŸŒฎ "taco" and has since undergone extensive surgery, medical treatments, psychology, basically thousands of dollars in medical costs, and now has an ๐Ÿ†"eggplant," that person should use the bathroom labeled ladies. ๐Ÿšบ Because that will prevent sexual assault. To have people who now have a penis in the ladies' room will PREVENT sexual assault. Additionally, a person born with an ๐Ÿ†"eggplant," who has had the medical procedure to slice it open and fold it over, so now the person has a ๐ŸŒฎ "taco," that person should use the bathroom labeled men. ๐Ÿšน For their own protection, of course. ๐Ÿคฆ

As usual, no mention of people born with multiple reproductive organs, or none.

It's an American problem. Partly because our restrooms our so poorly constructed. Huge gaps between the doors and walls, neither of which go all the way to the floor or ceiling. The "locks" rarely keep the doors closed. And now, apparently, over half of the population has become obsessed with watching others use a toilet. ๐Ÿšฝ๐Ÿงป

But, back in the 1990's, the show Ally McBeal had a unisex restroom. "We all go together." Gen X survived with that. "Some say Ally McBeal was a quintessential show of the 1990s."

learn from history or be doomed to repeat it

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

December 4 question - Do you write cliffhangers at the end of your stories? Are they a turn-off to you as a writer and/or a reader?

Cliffhangers... use one book to sell the next. My beloved Grey's Anatomy just did another big cliffhanger to ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜ต‍๐Ÿ’ซ drive fans crazy for the next few months. (Returns March 6. Jo!!! ๐Ÿคฐ)

You gotta go with what the story calls for, I guess. Traditional publishers seem to be looking more and more for novels under 90k. So, sometimes you need a cliffhanger. Of course, a lot of them also want stand-alones, so then there's no cliffhanger. ๐Ÿ˜…

A story I've been working on for a few YEARS has cliffhangers between chapters. A main plot point of the story might not exist much longer, so I don't know what to do about that. I should just indie publish it because trying to find just the right people to represent it is getting more and more difficult.

Some of you may recall my LONG battle with Twitter to restore my account. It had been shut down due to quoting a Jeff Dunham character joke in a blog post title and sharing a link to my post. (Oddly, a Gif with the same quote was readily available on Twitter. And Jeff's own account used the words multiple times without being banned.)

ANYWAY. I finally got my Twitter account restored.

And now I don't even want it. ๐Ÿ˜…

Now the platform is full of hate speech, sandbags any posts with links, and is used to train AI.

TL;DR = I'm on Bluesky now! And I prefer it. Much happier place. If you've moved too, please hit me up. I'd love to make more writer pals over there. - JamieWriter

Stop the Hate of Grey's Anatomy Tolerance

Ellis and Richard are the older characters on the show. There are flashback episodes to the intolerance they faced as surgical interns. Racism, sexism, the usual prejudice from small minds.

Some people claim the show has "gotten too political and too woke."

I poked a troll. Because the stance is crap. And prejudice shouldn't be "political." I mean, it is, especially now with the hate about to be fully in charge of the US government. (Our biggest threat will come from within.)

I miss the days of people being afraid of getting called out for being prejudice. So yeah, today, I opted not to be silent.

Yesterday's answer was ZOLA

I'm so grateful to everyone who visited this month! And I had a lot of fun visiting others.

As Grey's Anatomy is known for championing liberal causes, nine of my April posts (A,D,F,H,M,P,R,S,V) included tweets posted via Resistbot from letters I've sent to my elected officials, in the hopes of encouraging others to make their views heard.

"Please stand with Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota, in banning hunger, not books, from schools. That should be a national priority. Keep students fed, safe, and well-educated in America. Don't let history, science, culture, and LGBTQIA+ life be erased. More truth, reality, and nourished children in American schools. Less violence, book bans, and child labor. We can do better and we must do better.

Thank you."

TV Show #GreysAnatomy #AtoZChallenge Crossword Puzzle Letter Z

#AtoZChallenge 2023 Grey's Anatomy crossword by Jamie of uniquelymaladjustedbutfun.blogspot

My theme is based on the tv show Grey's Anatomy. I've created a crossword puzzle.
Only one clue occurs after Season 11's ending, and it's about a patient in season 16. Most of this is about Meredith's earlier "intern" years. (To prevent spoilers, there is nothing about season 19.)

In 2007, Grey's Anatomy's cast of characters was identified as 54.5%  white, 9.1% Asian, 27.3%  black, and 9.1% Latinx.
"Ellen Pompeo thinks diverse representation has come a long way but that it can always be better." - Dec 2021
It's my favorite tv show. I honestly don't believe I would have survived the pandemic without having this to binge-watch. It's my comfort, my happy place. Thanks to the diverse cast and wide variety of issues, I believe this show appeals to a broad audience.
*But probably not to many 'merican Republicans, as it made clear in the first season's second episode "absolutely no Bush supporters need apply."

Put on your best ferryboat scrub cap, it's time to play!

Today's Clue is for
9 down - Derek and Meredith went to the courthouse and got married (beyond a blue Post It) and then skipped Callie and Arizona's wedding reception to go back to the hospital to spend time with this person.

Today's Clue is for
4 down - Shonda Rhimes created the word for a scene in her show hit "Grey's Anatomy" -- but she was not happy about it. "We actually should be calling people's body parts what they are." But the sensors won't allow too much use of a medically accurate term for this. (Debated here) Dr. Bailey is giving birth and yells at George, who's assisting with the delivery of her baby, to "Stop looking at" her this.
