#AtoZchallenge K is worth 5 points #NationalScrabbleDay

The K is worth 5 points. That's right, folks, it's

NATIONAL SCRABBLE DAY!

In the United States, the name Scrabble is a trademark of Hasbro, Inc.
The amateur artist and game's creator, Alfred Mosher Butts, was born on April 13, 1899, which is how the date for this holiday was chosen.
While a classic game with a real board and wooden letters is the best way to celebrte today, there are also alternatives.
Apps like "Words with Friends" and "Word Chums" paradoy the original game.

If putting words together isn't your game (ha), here's today's back-up holiday:

NATIONAL THOMAS JEFFERSON DAY.

"Thomas Jefferson called his election "the Revolution of 1800" because it marked the first time that power in America passed from one party to another. He promised to govern as he felt the Founders intended, based on decentralized government and trust in the people to make the right decisions for themselves." (US News)

#AtoZchallenge Just getting blown away while eating a grilled cheese and licorice

How cool would it have been if there was an actual J holiday today?
Well, there's not. So you have to live with my word play... again.

It's NATIONAL BIG WIND DAY

Way back on April 12, 1934, the Mount Washington Observatory recorded winds at 231 miles per hour. This gust hasn't been topped yet, so it gets a holiday.

It's also NATIONAL GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH DAY

Oh sure, you can take ordinary sliced white bread, butter it inside and out, place a slice of American cheese you unwrapped from that plasic thing, and put it in a pan for a few minutes.
Or you can get creative!
I might suggest a simple upgrade, like better breads or cheeses. Or even adding some meat.
But it's J day in #AtoZchallenge world!
That means I'm going to suggest you add some jelly or jam.
Hear me out!
Fruit and cheese work together. It makes it a sweeter treat. It's certainly messier. I dare you to give this a try!

What's your favorite addition to a grilled cheese sandwich?

Have you ever played The Sims? There's a secret obsession in that game with Grilled Cheese! Or maybe not so secret...

And it's NATIONAL LICORICE DAY

Red, black, or other-- what's your flavor preference?
Twizzlers versus Red Vines -- where do you stand?

#AtoZchallenge I celebrate libraries and cheese #NationalLibraryWorkersDay #NationalCheeseFondueDay

I support public libraries

I support #NationalLibraryWorkersDay

That's the holiday today. It's observed annually on the Tuesday of National Library Week.
The keepers of the books, the masters of research, the directors to knowledge-- library workers are a great gift to our culture. Today, we celebrate them.

How often do you use a library?

It's also #NationalCheeseFondueDay

www.cheese.com
Here's a site to help in the hunt for cheese that starts with the letter I.
Melt it down, mix it with liquid (wine is the most popular, but there are alternatives), maybe add cornstarch.
Dip bread, pretzels, cooked meats, or whatever you like to cover in melty cheese.

Do you have a cheese fondue recipe to share?

#AtoZchallenge How are your siblings #NationalSiblingsDay

Yesterday I could have made a "HELLO MY NAME IS" joke. But here we are...

National Sibling Day

How are your siblings? How much does this holiday suck if you're an only child?
Way might you celebrate today:
Cards
Flowers
Emote via text
Tell a friend they are as close to a sibling as you're gonna get

That's my sibling and I on our trip to Chicago.
LOVE YOU, SMACKY!

What nicknames do you have for your sibling, or they for you?

#AtoZChallenge Gee I wish you would draw me a bird today

You know I'm going to be pushing the alphabet boundries more and more as this month goes on, right?

Draw a Picture of a Bird Day

To celebrate today, I want you to draw me a picture of a bird that starts with the letter G!

#Atozchallenge draw a bird day
No, those seagulls are not by me.

This bird is by me.

Origin of "Draw a Picture of a Bird Day":
On April 1943, 7 year old Dorie Cooper visited her uncle in the hospital. He had been injured in WWII, having lost his leg to a land mine. She asked him to draw a picture of a bird. He did, and she teased him saying it wasn't a very good picture, but she would hang it in her room. This lifted his spirits. Three years later, Dorie was struck and killed by a car. At her funeral there were many bird pictures and drawings, prompting the creation of this day.

#AtoZChallenge F Housework #NationalNoHouseworkDay

F*ck Housework! (Hey, I needed an F...)

It's No Housework Day

#NationalNoHouseworkDay
The objective of today is not to do housework, especially if you're the one who usually does most of it.
The other way to celebrate is to DO the housework, ALL OF IT, if you're someone who normally doesn't make time for it.
#AtoZChallenge F Housework Day #NationalNoHouseworkDay

What is your least favorite housework chore?
What is your favorite cleaning product or best housework lifehack?

#AtoZchallenge Plan Your Epitaph Day

It's Plan Your Epitaph Day.

An Epitaph is a commemorative inscription on a tomb or mortuary monument about the person buried at that site. a brief poem or other writing in praise of a deceased person.

(In case you didn't get enough pizza yesterday.)

It's said that planning how you'll be remembered can help you take stock of where you are in life and figure out what you'd like to accomplish.

My nineth-grade history teacher promised that she wouldn't write our grades on our tombstones. This was after an especially hard time in our school, during which everyone's grades slipped. It was probably the first time our class laughed in a week, and it was definitely a harder laugh than the statement deserved.

So what life goal do you have that, if accomplished, you'd want on your tombstone?
How would you sum your current self up in one sentence?
