The ancient Celtic festival of Samhain included lighting bonfires and wearing costumes so as not to be recognized by spirits.
Other people tried to scare demonic spirits by wearing scary costumes.
There was also a time when people dressed as Saints and went door to door to get food for the poor. All Saints Day and All Souls' Day tend to combine with Halloween, as the dates coincide. 

Halloween costume traditions have evolved over millenniums. What was acceptable once might not be acceptable now. A holiday that combines many cultures and traditions should unite us, not rip us apart. A little planning and a quick online search can prevent unintentional offending. Don't get booted from a Halloween costume party!

Olive enters Ned in a pie baking competition. The challenge is to make rare-fruit pies. Ned draws durian. Charlotte asks if Ned is sure he's touched the fruit, because it still smells rotten. Even he isn't sure. Emerson comes over. He asks Ned if he's keeping dead bodies in the pie shop. They solve a crime where a Malaysian family has been importing drugs in the durian fruit, because the drug-sniffing dogs won't go near it. 🏅 The Pie Hole wins a consolation prize of a wooden spoon engraved with "Honorable Mention." Ned has to shut The Pie Hole down for a week while the stink clears out. He tells Olive to never enter him in anything again.

Hans, Who Made the Princess Laugh

Regina wants to make friends with the new royal neighbors. She takes the three failure-to-launch twenty-somethings triples to Rumpelstiltskin’s shop to buy presents for a depressed princess who has turned all her suitors down. 

Emma argues that turning down marriage proposals is not a symptom of depression. Regina says that not wanting a happily ever after is a problem. And there's a reason the princess has to marry. Namely that it will make the new neighbors happy. 

The triplets go to see the princess. The first two brothers fail. The third triplet brings out the goose, which has golden buttercream and honey on it, so it's sticking to people. It also sticks to the third triplet, pulling off a fake wig and mustache. Turns out the third triplet is M to F trans, but was wearing a disguise to still look M because the brothers would take everything if they knew. But the princess marries her, and now she can live as her true self, and the princess can admit to preferring women, and everyone lives happily ever after.

"OMG, like anyone is ever going to know Windows 95. Please." Angela complains to Brian.
"Yeah well, like, if you don't know, you'll flunk."
"God, Brian, like school is all there is in life. Don't you ever get tired of it?"

"Don't you ever get tired of your parents being on your case? Look, this is really user-friendly."
Rayanne walks in. "You will not believe this. My mom rented a sex tape from Blockbuster."

Brian noticeably rolls his eyes. 🙄 "They don't have those there. Everyone knows that. It's, like, the main thing about the chain."
"Shut up," Rayanne says as she pulls the tape from her bag. "Look. It's supposed to be this other movie. But someone rigged the tape and recorded over it."
Angela takes the tape. "I cannot believe we have another sex tape. Remember what happened last time?"

Brian blushes. "Another? Who, where, why did you have one before?"

"Aww, the nerd is all curious," Rayanne toys with Brian's hair.

"Shut up. I'm trying to teach Angela how to use a computer here."

"Can you put this tape on there?"

Brian gulps. "No."

"Then you're useless. Come on, Angela. We've gotta get Rickie."

Sawyer and Juliet host a cooking class at their house! Juliet creates a watermelon with feta salad. Sawyer makes vanilla cake pops with pink frosting served on sticks of twisted bacon. The DHARMA folks are in total awe of these food offerings. They realize food is important to utopian social engineering.

Dr. Pierre Chang brings a group of people with "electromagnetic hypersensitivity" to the island. They all go nuts as soon as they are out of the submarine. Their skin turns red, they have heart palpitation, their stomach issues are very noticeable, they can barely concentrate, most claim they're on fire and try to stop, drop and roll, but fall asleep once they drop. Despite attempts at psychological evaluation, by the end of the episode, the survivors of the group are sent away.

Live and Let Liver

In round one, the four contestants must make a light lunch using livers from birds. Foie gras (goose, duck), chicken, and turkey liver are in the pantry. There's a sabotage where the avian liver can be taken away from a contestant, replaced by a vegetarian version made of soft tofu, mushrooms, olive oil, and black pepper. Another sabotage removes all carbs from an opponent in exchange for cabbage. The final sabotage allows a player to have spoons as the only kitchen utensil. 

Cow, lamb, and pig liver are available for round two, the dinner course. Sabotage one exchanges onions for candied onion seeds. Sabotage two handcuffs an opponent, hands behind their back, for the challenge. Sabotage three, one contestant must make a "surf and turf," the surf being made with tuna from a tuna salad, salmon in a patty, or lobster in a soup. 

The final round, as always, is dessert. Tomalley (the green stuff that functions like a liver and pancreas in a lobster) must be used. One sabotage takes away all heat sources. The next sabotage requires that lobster shells replace all vessels - bowls, pots, pans, blenders, etc. The final sabotage makes an opponent finish their dish without touching anything, giving very implicit directions to a blindfolded Bob.
